Annual Event - 1st Saturday in December
December 6, 2008
Downtown White Salmon
On Saturday, Dec 6, 2008, downtown White Salmon, Washington, is once again hosting the annual "I'm Dreaming of a White Salmon" Holiday Festival.
The day kicks off at 7:00 am with a “Breakfast with Santa” at Henkle Middle School.
Then, beginning at noon, musicians, artists, carolers, and a whole lot of good cheer will fill the shops and streets of downtown, with Santa and Mrs Claus on hand for photos.
Stop by the White Salmon Boatworks to warm your hands, enjoy some hot chocolate and roast a marshmallow at one of the firepits.
Between 1-4 pm be sure to visit the White Salmon Valley Community Library for their annual "Holiday Wassail" event.
Finally, gather again at the Boatworks at 5:00 pm for the culminating events: hot chocolate with marshmallows, community caroling, and the lighting of our community Christmas tree.

7 Artists for 7 Weeks
Gallery Show
June 1 through July 18, 2008
White Salmon Valley Community Library, White Salmon, WA
Reception: Friday, June 13, 2008, 6pm
Music & Refreshments
Seven local artists will join artistic forces for a unique and diverse gallery show at the White Salmon Valley Community Library from June 1 through July 18, 2008. All of the artists are Columbia High School Seniors graduating this June. The public is cordially invited to meet the artists at the gallery reception on Friday, June 13, 2008, at 6:00 p.m. Music will be by 'The Tall Trees' with Desmond Fuller and Bart Plimmer. Refreshments will be provided.
Participating artists are Sera Stanton, Liz Reetz, Erin Holwegner, Nicole Dunn, Fanny Domijan, Amanda Wanner, and Robin Swanhuyser. Although each artist has refined their art for many years, the works featured in the show will be more recent--many completed this year. The seven artists will show works in a wide range of media from jewelry and renaissance costume design to silk-screen and illustration. Stanton, Reetz, Holwegner, Dunn and Domijan will show drawings and paintings including pen & ink, pencil, chalk pastels, oil pastels, water color, acrylic, oil paint, Prismacolor pencils, Prismacolor markers, graphite, and silk screen. Wanner will exhibit a renaissance gown inspired by Raphael’s painting, "Girl with a Unicorn," that she designed and constructed for her Senior Project. Swanhuyser will display one-of-a-kind jewelry in semi-precious stones, silver & beads.
When asked what inspired their art, responses included: the people around them--from great grandmothers to art teachers; ideas--from dreams to theology; and the world around them: from landscapes, to the abstract colors and lines in the natural world. Please join us to celebrate these very talented young artists as they finish up their high school careers and move on to the next exciting phase of their lives. For more information on this event or other library programs and services, call the library 509.493.1132 or visit the Fort Vancouver Regional Library website.

GORGE ARTISTS OPEN STUDIOS
Annual Columbia Gorge Event
April 12-13, 2008
Gorge Artists Open Studios
Info: 541.296.5134 or info@gorgeartistsopenstudios.com
On Saturday and Sunday, April 12 and 13, 2008, more than thirty artists in the Mid-Columbia region of the Columbia Gorge will open their studios to the public as part of the region’s second organized open studios tour. Come on an art adventure and see artists in their natural habitats, their studios in communities along the Columbia River in Oregon and Washington, east of Portland and west of the Deschutes River.
The array of artwork produced by Gorge artists is incredible. The tour will feature original works by artists living and working in the region. Participating artists will open their work spaces for the public to view how and where they work, and to ask the artist directly any questions about their work, but only for two days. Visitors will have the chance to stop at the studios of their choice any time between 10 am and 5 pm, Saturday and Sunday.
Through Gorge Artists Open Studios, tourists will enhance their knowledge of art and culture in the Columbia Gorge, and view and purchase artwork not available in galleries.
